Location and area search
Location and area search
The location and area search function can be found among the icons on the right side of the user interface, under the magnifying glass icon.
.
The location and area search function allows you to search for location information from Finnish place names, Tarkka reference stations, WFD water bodies in Finland, Sweden, and Estonia, Norwegian lakes, and certain other regional divisions. You can perform a search by typing a keyword into the Location and Area Search field and clicking Search. The search results open in a list. By clicking on a search result, Tarkka’s map view navigates to that location and, if necessary, zooms in.
The search utilizes the National Land Survey of Finland’s geocoding service for place name searches and Syke’s own search interface for water formations and stations.
- Finnish place names (e.g., cities, municipalities, water bodies) can be searched using keywords. The search results appear in the section labeled Places. Place searches can be further refined by adding additional criteria to the search field, such as the name of a locality (
"salmi,Vihti") or other specifications ("Hossa, Suomussalmi, kansallispuisto"). - Waterbodies can be searched by the name of the water body, its code, or a part of its code (e.g.
"Lu_020"or"Hankoniemi"). - Tarkka reference stations can be searched by the name or code of the station (e.g.
"Kylmäpihl"or"47619").
